Office 2010 For Free?

To be honest, I am not a big fan of Microsoft products. I have long ditched IE before anyone else. I opted for Open Office and ditched Office 2007 too. The only problem comes to actually sharing (files) them with friends and contacts; majority of them uses MS Office. So like it or not, I got to have a working copy in my PC for bowing down to the majority’s sake.

Well, enough of bitching MS Office, I am going to actually talk good about MS Office on this one. For ya’ll to know, the much awaited Microsoft Office 2010 is out now in public, and it is beta. Microsoft earlier announced the availability of the public betas of Microsoft Office 2010, SharePoint Server 2010, Visio 2010, Project 2010 and Office Web Apps for business customers, which is good news.

Since it’s free I am not going to miss out on this one as some softwares such as Visio and Project are excellent for biz oriented people and entrepreneurs. Plus those softwares are not designed by Microsoft (heh?). They belong to someone elses before Microsoft actually ‘acquire’ them. Smart eh? (Microsoft always know how to acquire good stuff out there and making it theirs).

However, if you’d like to be one of the millions of people who are actually thrilled (like me, duh?), try, test and give feedback on the latest and greatest, you can download the betas at Microsoft. You will be required to login and this is when your Hotmail/MSN came handy. If you haven’t got one, you got to register first. You will be provided with the product serial key too. Once installed, copy and paste them to ‘authenticate’ them.

I bet for most of us, this is an exciting and important milestone in Microsoft’s history because it means that for the first time, anyone can download Office 2010 instead running from those cumbersome blasted installer CD’s (and yes they are hefty)

For goodness sake, they also launched a new branding and logo. Sweet like candy.

The new branding is spot on as to reflect the new technology innovations that Microsoft has done for Office 2010 (have yet to discover it). The re-design includes an updated MS Office logo, a sizzling new orange palette for the branding and of course (as above), the updated icons for Office 2010 applications that make it easier for ya’ll to quickly identify the Office products you work in.

So, ditch your 2007 and look forward for 2010. Give it a try and judge it dudes.
