When Network Self-Defends

Networks has became increasingly vulnerable playground for roaming exploits to interrogate integrities of network securities. Cisco, a main player in computing, wifi and networking has introduced a network called ‘The Self-Defending Network’ which was coined from three main aspects which forms the core characteristics of this secure network.

The characteristics involves integration of security throughout all aspects of network. Compared to the traditional method where security aspects runs autonomously, this unique network link every units of a subsystem that was amalgamated as a main system.

Therefore, the reciprocating elements results in collaborative process between various elements in the network security. The network is ‘self-heal’ itself as it has ability to adapt to new threats as they arise. For every threats that the system experienced, it will continuously update and fortify itself from subsequent attacks in the future from the same type of threat or the variants of the threats.

The system is coined as Cisco’s long-term strategy to offer protection to high-risk organisation business process by identifying threats, preventing them and adapting threats from both sources; in and out.

Organisation can benefit by taking better advantage of the intelligence in their network resources by this system implementation thus improving business process and cutting cost economically in a long run. The advantage also extends where the existing solution evolves to deliver more proactive, automated and real-time management to counter threats.
