[Origin: 1525–35; < L imitātus ptp. of imitārī to copy, presumably a freq. akin to the base of imāgō image]

Malaysians really like imitating or ‘meniru’/’menciplak’. Not sure what’s on Mohamed Hamzah’s mind when he designed Jalur Gemilang in 1947. Want us to look as superior as the Yanks? In this case Liberia is also our partner in crime lah. So, we are not alone to be labelled as imitators.

San Francisco got Golden Gate Bridge, we in Penang also got with our very own Penang Bridge which was almost 5 times the length of San Francisco’s. Talking about who’s longer, of cos us lah, 5 kali ganda wei!

Then, NYC got WTC Twin Tower. Our ex-premier pun tak mau kalah jugak lah. He build twin tower, Petronas punya. Hence we got our very own Petronas Twin Tower in KL. (fuyoh bangga siol)

Americans is very famous with their comic super hero like Superman, Spiderman, X-Men, and all men men. Just recently we also tak mau kalah jugak, KRU created Cicakman. Why so many superior creatures on this earth, KRU wanna choose something tiny and inferior such as the gecko (cicak)??? But it’s alright cos it was never meant to be serious since the comedic Saiful Apek was behind that character. Ngam habis.

In this case the nearest resemblance of Cicakman was Lizard, a villain in Spiderman series. Also known as Dr.Curt Connor, he was a military surgeon whereas our very own Cicakman pulak is Hairi, a lab technician. Both also come from more or less the same background (science).

And now for the finale’, London got their own Eye situated on the bank of the historic River Thames.

Using the excuse of Visit Malaysia Year 2007, our gomen also tak mau kalah. We erected an Eye of our own called the ‘Eye On Malaysia aka Malaysia Eye’, half of the height of London Eye. Takpa lah, cos the difference is we erected this Eye at the bank of Titiwangsa lake (fuyoh!) with the beautiful backdrop of the modern Petronas twin towers. London apa class? With the backdrop of the old parliament house buruk in Westminster only, apalah sangat kan?

So in this case, we tiru meniru and we menang selalu. Malaysia sememangnya bolehlah!
